Ein seltener Fund aus Westhofen (Lkr. Alzey-Worms): Fragment einer attischen Trinkschale
Auf einem Acker in der Gemarkung Westhofen wurde in den 1970er-Jahren das Fragment einer um 500 v. Chr. in Athen hergestellten Trinkschale aufgelesen. Im ersten Teil des Beitrags wird der Forschungsstand zur Archäologie der Eisenzeit um Westhofen zusammengefasst und neue Prospektionen vorgestellt, die belegen, dass die attische Scherbe ehemals aus einem Siedlungskontext stammt. Der zweite Teil des Beitrags widmet sich der Datierung des Fragments und der Darstellung, die sich zu einem Symposion-Innenbild einer frühen rotfigurigen Schale ergänzen lässt.
Abstract
A rare find from Westhofen (Lkr. Alzey-Worms): a fragment of an Attic drinking bowl
In the 1970s the fragment of a drinking bowl produced in Athens about 500 BC, was found on a field close to Westhofen. The first part of the article summarises the state of research on Iron Age archaeology around Westhofen and presents new prospection work proving the original find context of the bowl as a settlement. The second part addresses the date of the fragment and the depiction which can be completed to the representation of a symposium in the inner centre of an early red-figure bowl. (M. S.)

Une découverte exceptionnelle à Westhofen (Lkr. Alzey-Worms): un fragment de coupe attique
Un fragment de coupe produite à Athènes aux alentours de 500 av. J.-C. a été découvert hors-contexte dans les années 1970, dans un champ près de Westhofen. La première partie de l’article résume l’état de la recherche sur l’âge du Fer autour de Westhofen et présente les résultats de prospections qui ont démontré que ce tesson attique provient d’un contexte d’habitat. La deuxième partie de l’article se consacre à la datation du tesson et de son décor interne qui se laisse interpréter comme la représentation d’un Symposium. (L. B.)
