Ein valentinianischer Speicherbau – Zur Funktion des Gebäudes in der Nordostecke des Kastells Alzey
Ein rechteckiges Gebäude des valentinianischen Kastells Alzey, welches sich durch einen 3m breiten Mittelgang auszeichnet, wurde bislang als Kommandantenhaus oder Kastellkirche interpretiert. Anhand verschiedener mittelkaiserzeitlicher Parallelen aus dem militärischen wie zivilen Bereich wird hier eine Interpretation als Speicher vorgeschlagen.
A Valentinian storage building – Considering the function of the building in the north-east corner of the Alzey fort
A rectangular building of the Valentinian fort at Alzey which is characterized by a central corridor of 3m width, was hitherto interpreted as headquarters or church of the fort. Drawing on parallels from military and civilian contexts dating to the middle Roman Principate, an interpretation as a storage building is suggested. M. S.
Un grenier daté de Valentinien – Fonction du bâtiment implanté dans l’angle nord-est du castellum d’Alzey
Intégré au castellum valentinien d’Alzey, un bâtiment carré doté d’un passage médian de 3m de large était jusqu’alors interprété comme la maison des commandants ou comme l’église du castellum. Différents exemples de la »période impériale moyenne« (Mittelkaiserzeit) issus de la sphère militaire et civile permettent désormais de considérer ce bâtiment comme un grenier. E. M.
