The goal of Byzantine Archaeology in Mainz is not only to establish a complex Byzantine archaeology department through the participation of all relevant disciplines, but also to build a communication platform for all researchers interested in Byzantine archaeology. Through contact with colleagues active in this field and their ties to this collaborative project in Mainz, a scientific network will emerge, which will stimulate a new research impulse for Byzantine archaeology. For this purpose, Byzantine Archaeology in Mainz will host workshops and seminars at irregular intervals. Their thematic concentrations will be announced at the appropriate time in this location.
